Wow! It’s hard to believe that the month of December has ended and so has 2014. This month was filled with all things good for me as I hope it was for you too. It was a month of love and Christmas cheer but I must also admit that the holiday season also brought me a bit of a headache too (it was the shopping, need I say more?).
Anyway, here’s my December edition of… My life in a Nutshell…
Christmas Tree Fun
One of our top priorities in our home in December was to get our Christmas tree up and decorated (and fast)! Brian loves the smell of a fresh cut Christmas tree and since several homes in our neighborhood were already decorated before Novembers end, we were already feeling the pressure. We bought some Peppermint Schnapps and spent an evening listening to Christmas music, decorating the tree (and house) while drinking “adult” hot chocolate.
Spending time with my dear friend Joanna
December also brought my good friend Joanna to town. She was here for a conference but of course I managed to sneak in a couple of visits and probably kept her up far too late (oops). We had a lovely dinner one night and I had a crazy and a fun filled Vegas Girls night out with her another night. As always, it was a pleasure to spend time with Joanna, Mika and Sam. Plus, Joanna FINALLY got to meet my wonderful hubbie 🙂
A Winter Wonderland in Vegas
Brian took me on one of the most wonderful dates ever. We went to a delicious Peruvian restaurant called Mi Peru which was fantastic! It was my first time to eat Peruvian food and I’ll definitely be back for more.
After dinner, we headed to Ethel M’s for Christmas lights- Vegas style. I’ve been here once before and just as I remembered it was an absolutely stunning display of lights. Hard to believe a cactus garden can be transformed into a Christmas winter wonderland.
Our date night went on and I suggested we stop by “The Linq” on the Las Vegas Strip as the holiday festivities were still calling my name. We listened to live music at a bar and then I decided to do something that is just not quite like me. I went tubing. Brian was shocked that I’d do such a thing since I’m always quite verbal about my fear of heights (among my fears of many other things). But being in the holiday spirit, I worked up the courage. I must admit that I enjoyed every moment of it! Well, all 10 seconds of it which is my guess as to how long the ride probably lasted.
Our Christmas at home
This year I stayed home for Christmas which was good and bad. Good because I was able to spend the holiday with my sweet hubby. Bad because I really missed my family. My Christmas at home was especially great for a pair of super lucky pups because… well, first because they didn’t spend Christmas at the doggie hotel and second- they both enjoyed a little leftover prime rib for their Christmas dinner 🙂
My Christmas Present
I have been dreaming of a pink bike with a basket for a long time now. And the bike must have the basket for my purse among other girlish things I may need on my bike ride. My guess is that I talked about this dream bike so much that my husband picked up the clues and that’s exactly what he got me for Christmas. I’m so very excited about this thoughtful gift! But of course as luck would have it, the weather in this Las Vegas desert decides to be cold, really REALLY cold.
New Year’s Eve
On January 1st, I headed back to Austin to spend the weekend with family and friends (pics of this adventure to come in next month’s My Life in a Nutshell). BUT first Brian and I welcomed 2015 at Red Rock Casino!!
Thanks for visiting and reading! I’m looking forward to you coming back to visit me here on The Coupon Diary in 2015!
