Target’s Spring Shoe Collection 2016

Saturday, March 19, 2016 0

Well, I’m shoe obsessed. I’ll admit it.

What I hate is when I see some really great shoes at Target but I don’t get them. Why? Well, because my frugal nature tells me to wait… to hold off… until they go on sale or even better- reach clearance prices. The problem is sometimes specific shoes that I’ve been eyeing all season never reach clearance prices because they run are out of stock. What a disappointment.

So, although it’s still a little chilly outside and not quite sandal weather, I gave in. I overcame my frugal ways and decided to go for it. I brought 3 pairs of sandals right now and at the beginning of the season.

Here’s the good news… Right now Target is having a BOGO 50% off sale! On many regularly priced items including shoes, clothing and accessories you get them BUY ONE GET ONE 50% off! So, huuurrrrryyyy over to target because the sale ends tonight on 3/19 at 11:59 PM PT.

Sweater Dress Target

Tips for my petite size friends (like me):

On my body, the dress did fit a little wide around the hip area. The dress looked somewhat boxy since on me since I don’t fill out the bottom half quite right.  BUT have no fear my fellow petite wearers, all I recommend for a quick fix is that you wear a belt to create more curves….and voila! The dress looks amazing! No alternations needed. The dress falls directly at my knees on my 5’1” frame.

How I wore it to work:

This dress was so easy to wear to work! I added some gold colored dangling earrings for a little sparkle and some nude colored heels. I finished the look with a black blazer.

Happy Shopping!

San Marzano Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Monday, March 7, 2016 0

I’m very excited to share this delicious recipe with you! This San Marzano Homemade Spaghetti Sauce is one of my favorite sauces because it can be used in so many dishes.

I usually make a gluten-free pasta and top it off with this yummy sauce. Sometimes I’ll bake a spaghetti squash instead of the pasta all together for a healthier dish. I promise, this tomato sauce is so easy to make. Once you taste it (and smell it while cooking), it will surely become a family favorite.

Any leftover sauce is perfect to be used the next day in a new dish. I love making a delicious lasagna with the leftover sauce.

Also, the sauce can be made with or without sausage or meat. It can also be spicy (or not). It’s up to you!

Happy Cooking!

Enjoy.

February Fun: A New Job, Miss Kiya Update & Ski Trip

Tuesday, March 1, 2016 0

Hello Friends,

It sure has been a very LONG time since I’ve posted a My Life in a Nutshell post. Things have been crazy for me and there have been so many changes in my life. Some of you know from my last post that I moved to Dallas for my husband’s job. Shortly after, my dog Austin was diagnosed with a Tumor and he passed away.

So much more has happened and I don’t want to bore you with every single detail. Instead, I’ll just pick right back up with February’s edition of My Life in a Nutshell. Here are a few highlights of my life in February 2016.

A New Job

I’m very excited to say that I have a new job. I’ve been working there now for exactly one month and couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity. I’m still helping my good friend with her online boutique, Wake Me Up Goods in my free time too. Working with my friend was a dream job for sure as it allowed me to work from home (which both my doggies and hubby really enjoyed). But I was given a job offer I couldn’t refuse and I am grateful and blessed for the opportunity. Sometimes I feel super busy BUT actually I couldn’t be happier about it.

An update on Miss Kiya

Kiya is doing great! She celebrated her 13th birthday this past September and she’s still going strong. She loves living closer to Austin where she can visit my parent’s house more often. She won’t admit it but she sure does enjoy spending time with her Chihuahua and her miniature poodle best friends.

Kiya on a walk

Kiya’s obsession right now is meal time. When Austin was sick, I started cooking homemade dog food. It’s a habit I haven’t stopped. I swear that sometimes Kiya eats healthier than I do. Soon I’ll post some of my DIY homemade dog food recipes on the blog.

Ski Trip in Colorado

The first time I skied, I had a terrible experience. I never thought I’d give it another try. Last week, I went with Brian (my husband) and his parents to Copper Mountain and I promised myself that as fearful I felt, I’d give it another try. I must report that it went well! I did have a few falls but overall skiing for me was a success. I no longer fly off the ski lift or freeze in fear or cry. Thanks to my ski instructor I must say that I am actually looking forward to trying it again.

Wishing everyone a wonderful March! Thank you for reading.
