Wow! So much has happened! I’ve been living in Dallas for about one year. I got an amazing new job at the beginning of the year and I am still loving it and enjoying it every day! And since then, Brian and I have been working on finding our dream home.
Well, we found it! We found our dream home.
And we’ve moved. We’ve been here almost one month and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. It’s been a crazy adventure that has been jam packed with new tasks. It was a big move for us. As you know, we’ve been living the city life in Dallas but we’ve made the big move out to a more rural setting.
Well, it’s not too rural but just rural enough to make the move a little nerve wracking. I must say that I’ve learned so many new things. Things I never thought I’d be doing such as mowing the lawn and weed eating it. Soon I’ll start my garden amongst many other new things I look forward to sharing with you.
Stay tuned. I’m excited to post and share my new adventures with you.
So much more has happened and I don’t want to bore you with every single detail. Instead, I’ll just pick right back up with February’s edition of My Life in a Nutshell. Here are a few highlights of my life in February 2016.
A New Job
I’m very excited to say that I have a new job. I’ve been working there now for exactly one month and couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity. I’m still helping my good friend with her online boutique, Wake Me Up Goods in my free time too. Working with my friend was a dream job for sure as it allowed me to work from home (which both my doggies and hubby really enjoyed). But I was given a job offer I couldn’t refuse and I am grateful and blessed for the opportunity. Sometimes I feel super busy BUT actually I couldn’t be happier about it.
An update on Miss Kiya
Kiya is doing great! She celebrated her 13th birthday this past September and she’s still going strong. She loves living closer to Austin where she can visit my parent’s house more often. She won’t admit it but she sure does enjoy spending time with her Chihuahua and her miniature poodle best friends.
Kiya’s obsession right now is meal time. When Austin was sick, I started cooking homemade dog food. It’s a habit I haven’t stopped. I swear that sometimes Kiya eats healthier than I do. Soon I’ll post some of my DIY homemade dog food recipes on the blog.
Ski Trip in Colorado
The first time I skied, I had a terrible experience. I never thought I’d give it another try. Last week, I went with Brian (my husband) and his parents to Copper Mountain and I promised myself that as fearful I felt, I’d give it another try. I must report that it went well! I did have a few falls but overall skiing for me was a success. I no longer fly off the ski lift or freeze in fear or cry. Thanks to my ski instructor I must say that I am actually looking forward to trying it again.
Wishing everyone a wonderful March! Thank you for reading.
I’m back!!! As most of you know, I’ve been away from my little blog for quite some time. BUT I’m back now and I’m very excited to get back to posting!
Here’s what happened… In April, my husband was offered an amazing new job opportunity. It was a great offer that he couldn’t pass up. He took it and so we’ve relocated and moved to Dallas, Texas. Brian moved in April. I stayed an additional six weeks in Las Vegas, sold the house, packed it up for shipping and just arrived in Dallas last week. It’s been a hectic six weeks and although I’m excited about this new beginning, it does come with some big changes to our lives that to me will take just a little bit of time to get used to.
Wow! I can’t believe that February has come and gone! It seems like just yesterday I did my January edition of My Life in A Nutshell but here we are again. This February had a bit of a slow start but as it always does, life got busy busy BUSY!! Here’s a quick look at my life in February. Here’s….. My Life in A Nutshell 🙂
Weekend off for Hubby
Well we had a very great start to the month! Those of you that know my husband know that my aviation nerd NEVER gets a weekend off. It’s very rare for this to happen and when it does happen we consider it a very special occasion! Lucky for us- Brian unexpectedly had the first weekend of February off of work. And we took advantage of it! We started off our weekend right by spending some much needed family time with our adorable pups. We took our sweet pups on long walks and to the park. They were so happy and had huge doggie smiles.
The weekend couldn’t have started off more perfect. Sleeping in, doggie time and to top it off- the weather was absolutely amazing and it turned out to the perfect weekend for bike rides. So, we traded in our car keys that weekend to ride our bikes instead. We took our bikes out several times and even went out to lunch and to have drinks thanks to our gorgeous Nevada weather. What a wonderful weekend we had! It was much appreciated too since we knew that the following weekend a Valentine’s Day celebration was out of question due to Brian work schedule.
The Best Banana Bread Beer EVER
Since my hubby was working all Valentines weekend long, there couldn’t have of been a more perfect time to have a close girlfriend visit. My great friend Christina came into town just to see me and I was thrilled! For us a fun “girls” weekend was long overdue and we really took advantage of our time together. We have such a fun time! We went to the Container Park for late night drinks, Commonwealth Bar, Chippendales Show, Hyde Nightclub and to a 50 Shades of Grey movie showing. We really enjoyed a weekend of girl talk and dancing! Plus we found a delicious new Banana Bread beer that we both LOVE!
Us girls didn’t forget about the best husband in the world either. Since he was working on Valentine’s Day, we surprised him and his coworkers with a beautiful delivery of Valentine’s Day donuts from Pink Box Donuts. Yum yum yum yum!!!!!
And to his surprise, at home he had several flavors of his favorite ice creams waiting in the freezer. These were extra special since at our home we don’t eat dessert often. Brian was very excited! The weekend ended and I was sad to see Christina go but I was very grateful that she took the time out of her busy special to spend some time with me.
The following weekend we went to see a show. We saw Zarkana at the Aria. I really LOVED it! Brian said it reminded him too much of a circus and he didn’t enjoy it as much as I did BUT I loved it because I love acrobats! It makes my anxiety rise just a little but I’m always in awe at those amazing tricks they do. Before anyone says anything- YES they do let you take pictures in this show!! 🙂
That Sunday, it had been raining off and on all day long. It was a normal Sunday and when I went to sleep it was raining but when I woke up there was a wonderful surprise waiting for me outside the window- SNOW!!! It was beautiful!
“Big” of the Month!
Last but not least, my February ended with a wonderful surprise. I was “Big” of the month for the month of February!
I hope everyone has had a great start to March! Thanks for reading 🙂
This month was absolutely amazing both in my personal life and in my blogging world. I hope that everyone had a remarkable start to 2015 and is welcoming the next 11 months of the year with open arms! I know I am 🙂
I’m excited to share my adventures of January 2015…. It’s My Life in a Nutshell!
Adventures in Texas
Well, if you remember from my Decembers My life in a Nutshell, my sweet hubby and I rang in the New Year at Red Rock Casino! That festive night was perfect and the very next day, off I went to spend some much needed time with my family in Austin. This Texas visit was EXTRA special because I spent some much needed time with my very best girl friends.
As we always do, we had a fun filled night that ended far too quickly. First, we listened to live music and then headed off for some dancing. I love my home city but I must say that it always scares me how much it can change in such a short period of time… Anyway, Brian’s best friend Scottie just so happened to be in Austin for the New Year and lucky for us his group joined us for a little fun. Without a doubt their company was much appreciated.
It was a great Austin visit!
A little bit of yoga
Every month I look forward to spending time with my “little”. She is an amazing young lady that I mentor through the Big Brother Big Sisters program. My “little” is very adventurous and she really enjoys trying new activities and this month I took her to yoga with me. She had never tried Yoga before so I figure this is a good place to start before I ask her to join me for anti-gravity yoga 🙂 Hopefully, this anti-gravity adventure will be coming soon… BUT this yoga class was something she absolutely LOVED!!!
We had a great morning at yoga, followed by tasty burgers at Red Robin (her pick) and then followed that up with a little desert from The Cupcakery. Those are some of the tastiest cupcakes ever!!
*Just so you know, as a volunteer I’m asked not to post photos of her for her own protection and that’s why unfortunately you don’t get to see photos of her face here.
Perfect Movie Date
Brian kept talking about American Sniper. He talked about it, showed me trailers (over and over), talked about it some more and shushed my during the commercials. And so of course, even though I’m not a fan of war movies, we found it a perfect excuse to go out for a date night.
Our first stop for dinner was 8 Noodle Bar, a new restaurant we spotted while at Red Rock Casino. Well, I must say that this restaurant was a fantastic choice for the night with its Asian Fusion menu that really hit the spot. I’m a soup lover and found a perfect soup for me while Brian found a noodle dish that he was very pleased with too.
After dinner we enjoyed a cocktail at Hearthstone and then headed to watch American Sniper. As expected, the movie theater was packed and we ended up sitting far too close to the screen but it was all worth it as the movie was truly amazing! If you haven’t seen it, I REALLY do recommend it.
Birthday Celebration in Colorado
My youngest brother turned 17 at the end of the month and we were able to plan the perfect birthday trip/ official college visit. The weekend started with an official visit to the Engineering school at the University of Colorado and then we were off to Copper Colorado for a quick ski trip.
My two brothers enjoyed a full day of skiing while I stressed out down below. The stress is explainable though because it was just last spring break that Jesse (17 year old) suffered a concussion which meant we spent that ski trip at the hospital. But all went really well (thank goodness) with the skiing and then it was time for tubing for me!
Tubing was VERYfun! We went down as a group multiple times, which was great EXCEPT for when Brian broke our link that I was holding onto so tightly.
My Blogging World
Some of you know that I’ve been experimenting with this blog of mine for a few months now but this January was my true launch!! And I’m very excited about that! As of just a couple of weeks ago, I started a Facebook page and Instagram page. I’m not going to lie, I have a lot of work to do in that space (well, in every space) but I hope with time I’ll get better 🙂 I’d love to have you on the my Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
My hope is to roll out new features that you’ll enjoy (crossing fingers). Of course, I’ll let you know when that happens.
THANK YOU so very much old friends and new friends for your support in my ventures.
Oh and thank you for taking the time to read this long post!
Hello Friends! My name is Rosa and I'm a Texas gal getting acquainted with my new home in Rockwall. I'll admit that I'm a little obsessed with (budget) living- budget cooking, budget decorating-you name it.... I also have a major obsession with anything farmhouse and vintage. Join me while I find ways to live frugally so that I can turn my 90's home into a dreamy faux farmhouse.... I'm just a Texas girl on a mission to live well… and beautifully.
